Beal gives up Poker - again!

Friday, February 24, 2006

Andy Beal ran into a what is probably a lot of players' worst poker nightmare - Phil Ivey heads up - and subsequently has given up playing poker for the second time this year.

Phil and Andy played for three days at the Wynn Casino, Las Vegas. When they started playing, Beal had just completed a $10 million winning streak against 'The Corporation', defeating Jennifer Harmon, Todd Brunson & Ted Forrest putting him up roughly $7million in total play. (they reportedly won about $3m in a previous playing session before the superbowl)

Down a fair chunk of change, the corporation then brought in their heaviest hitter, Phil 'Ice in his veins' Ivey. Playing 50k/100k heads up limit holdem, Ivey proceeded to win back the corporation's $7 million, plus another $9 million in profit over a three day period.

Beal, the texas billionaire then said he is through with poker again! He seems like a smart guy, so maybe he means it, and won't come back for more this time.

There'll no doubt be some happy corporation members partying hard in Vegas this weekend with their share of the windfall thanks to Mr Ivey.

Why didn't they bring him in earlier?
