Grinding at Borgata

Thursday, February 02, 2006

Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi has won the Borgata Winter Poker Open in Atlantic City.

There was a star studded final table of Erick Lindgren, Josh Spiegelman, John D'Agostino, Stu Thedonator Paterson, Amnon Filippi and "The Grinder".

To say that John D’Agostino went on a rush at the final table would be an understatement. “Dags” single handedly knocked out Josh Spiegelman in fifth place, Amnon Filippi in fourth place and Erick Lindgren, our beginning of the day chip leader, in third place. The final table eliminations led to a heads up match between two of the best young players around.

Mizrachi started with a small chip lead and picked up some key pots that enabled him to lean on
D’Agostino until the final hand where his 2 pair held up against D’Agostino's gutshot draw.

With the victory, “The Grinder” picks up $1,173,373, a $25,000 entry into the WPT Championship and a new 2006 Cadillac Escalade. This was Mizrachi’s second victory on the World Poker Tour, and the next stop is Commerce Casino where he is the defending champion.
