Heads up - Where's Joe?
The NBC heads up championship is in full swing at Caeser's Palace, Las Vegas. Click Here to view the bracket matchups and results thus far.I see Moneymaker lost to Tuan Le already and Greg Raymer beat Layne Flack, but where is Joe Hachem? Surely they invited him? He must have had better things to do than play for $1.5million!
Last year's champ, Phil Hellmuth has a tough first round matchup with the player many regard as the best all round poker player in the world - Chip Reese. If he gets through Chip he then has last year's final table opponent, Chris Ferguson as his likely next match. At least WSOP final table player and Tournament of Champions victor 'Mike the Mouth' Matusow has been knocked out so Phil won't have to face him after Ferguson. But he's sure in for a tough ride before even getting out of his 16th of the draw!
In other first round matchups, Daniel Negreanu beat his buddy Evelyn Ng, Jerry Buss went down to Amir Vahedi, and Doyle Brunson knocked out John Juanda. Gus Hansen's run of quick exits continued, losing to Sean 'The Sheik' Sheikhan. And The Grinder got lucky with A8 to bust Mark Seif with AJ.
There's still a lot of poker to play in this one, we'll keep you updated as more knockouts occur.
