Ladies impress, but miss out on Final Table Action

Sunday, April 23, 2006

No amount of cheering from the Poker.com staff could propel the 2 remaining ladies at the Bellagio's World Poker Tour Championship to the televised final table.

19 players started the day including one of the hottest players around right now, Victor Ramdin, champion of the recent Foxwoods Poker Classic.

As always the boys in the office were cheering much louder for the other hottest players - Erica Schoenberg and Vanessa Rousso.

AK was the undoing of both ladies. Erica was crippled when David Matthew's KQ caught a second queen on the turn crushing her AK off-suit. She fought her way back, tripling and doubling up turning $65,000 to over $500,000 with two big pots. That was where her run ended though, as she was eliminated in 16th place when AQ suited ran into Victor Ramdin's cowboys.

Vanessa almost made it to the televised final table but went out at the TV bubble when her AK suited was cracked by James Van Alstyne's AJ after he paired his jack on the turn.

Clearly if your holding AK at the Belagio today and you don't catch king on the flop, don't wait for the turn, lay that hand down!

So now that the gorgeous women have bowed out the final table looks like this:

James Van Alstyne $8,070,000
Joe Bartholdi $7,135,000
Claus Nielsen $5,875,000
David Matthew $5,765,000
Roland De Wolfe $1,860,000
Men The Master Nguyen $1,490,000

James Van Alstyne has looked very strong topping the chip count for the last couple of days, but the top four all have good stacks and will be ready to make a push tomorrow. One of the two short stacks left is Men The Master Nguyen, so its probably too early to count him out yet also.
