Billy Crystal and The Grinder join forces to bring credibility to the Clippers.
With the playoffs heating up it was only a matter of time before someone traded their poker branded jersey for some NBA colors, and off all the teams to get public support who would have thought it would be the clippers.Day one of the Mirage Poker Showdown saw Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi sporting a LA Clippers Elton Brand jersey, possibly hoping to bring some Elton style intimidation to the tables.
With the usual LA Playoff team stuggling now that Kobe has no friends the Clippers have gone from neverwins, to the darlings of LA, all while doing so with one of the tightest owners in the leage, Donald Sterling.
Cross town owner Jerry Buss, best known to us poker folk for his appearances on High Stakes Poker could only dream of spending so little and winning so much.
Now of course in every office at least some people have teams, so as the second round winds up, here is how our teams are holding up.
Kris's Kobe's, I mean Lakers, crashed out when the player who thinks he can pump his fist like Jordan, unfortunatly couldn't close a series out like the before mentioned superstar.
Liams Mavs, are going well, locked 2 all with Spurs in what is a great matchup. Fancying himself as a skinny version of Dirk Nowitski, Liams looking for a deep run in these playoffs, or he might just ahve to get back in game shape and show them how its done.
Scott whilst being a big bball fan cant bring himself to watch the NBA, only because his beloved Adelaide 36ers dont play in the league.
Beaner, our man in accounts is backing the Pistons, he loves a band wagon, and he's gonna ride this one until they lose (2-2 with the Cavs isn't a great start!)
I took two horses into this race and Im not looking good form here. My Nuggets fell to pieces when my boy Kenyon lost his head and decided that the team wasn't as important as he is.
And now my real team the Nets (I honestly gave up on them when they let Kenyon go and then traded for Vince, but they proved me wrong) are in a 3-1 hole against Miami, as the Dwayne Wade show rolls on.
So looking to the next round it looks like it will be between Beaner and Liam, sounds like one of our staff tourneys!
