From wire to wire: victory for Jamie Gold

Friday, August 11, 2006

It never seemed in doubt and a dominating final hand proved it.

Continuing the trend of talking heavily during opponents decisions, on a flop of Q-8-5 Gold talked Paul Wasicka into calling his all in bet, and when the cards were flipped you felt it was over. Wasicka's pocket 10's were behind the pair of Queens of Gold, and the way Gold drew out all day it just didnt seem possible he could lose from there.

With only a few outs an ace on the turn took all hope from Wasicka and a 4 on the river sealed it.

Wisicka takes home $6,102,499 for his fine efforts.

Gold has had an amazing run, leading the field for the last 3 days of play. He brought a massive chip stack to the final table and any time he dropped a few chips he soon made them up.

Congratulations to Jamie Gold, the 2006 World Champion from the World Series of Poker.
