2 final tables in two days isn't enough for the Croc.

Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Despite making consecutive final tables Billy "the Croc" Argyros hasn't been able to take down a first place.

It was an Omaha marathon in Event #3 the $1,050 Omaha Hi/Lo Championship, and while the Croc was chuffed with back to back final tables, it was Jethro Horowitz who had the days glory, taking home $33,600 for first place. To get there he had to overcome a four and a half hour heads-up battle with second place finisher Adam Geyer, the game running long into the wee hours of the morning.

With 96 total entrants and a price pool just under $100,000 it was a strong field to get through. Familiar names such as Harry Demetriou, Gary Benson, Tony G, Kenna James, Mark Vos, Sticky Mickey Guttman, Mick the Hoon, Mel Judah, Marsha Waggoner, Marek Kolk, Maurie Pears, Van Marcus, and defending Aussie Millions Main Event Champ Lee Nelson made it a great event, and its only day two of the championship.

Final Table Results Event #3 $1,050 Omaha Hi/Lo:
1. Jethro Horowitz (New South Wales, Australia) $33,600
2. Adam Geyer (Austin, TX, USA) $19,200
3. Constantin Harach (New Zealand) $11,520
4. Marsha Waggoner (California, USA) $9,600
5. Billy "the Croc" Argyros (Victoria, Australia) $7,680
6. Robert Sherer (USA) $5,760
7. Mel Judah (Victoria, Australia) $3,840
8. David Gorr (Victoria, Australia) $2,880
9. Maurie Pears (Queensland, Australia) $960
9. Woody Deck (Lithuania) $960

Two Days = Two Champions at the Aussie Millions.

Monday, January 08, 2007

After 2 days of events at the Aussie Millions in Melbourne we already have 2 champions.

Nick Sutar won the $1,100 Limit Holdem Title taking home a $55,000 first prize for his troubles. A pair of queens on the final hand was enough to oust poker professional Billy ‘The Croc’ Argyros who finished a gallant second after both players battled through a field of 170 players.

The next champion crowned was South Australian Gabriel Xiourouffa. He pocketed a cool $139,000 by winning the $1,100 No Limit Holdem Event. After claiming the crown he was on the phone to his mates in Adelaide, 8 of whom immediately jumped on the next plane to party with Gabriel at Crown Casino in Melbourne.

Congrats to the winners, hopefully the Poker.com players can have an impact when they arrive at the end of the week.

Only three more sleeps till the Poker.com contingent arrives in Melbourne for the Main Event!
