Long regarded as one of the best poker players never to have won a World Series of Poker bracelet, Erik Lindgren has broken through in 2008.

The Full Tilt Poker pro, defeated a star studded final table to claim the $5000 Mixed Hold'em event.

There was standing room only for spectators as Lindgren battled former bracelet winners Howard Ledered and David Williams and up-and coming online player Justin Bonomo from Team Bodog.

Lindgren did not have the chip lead for very long in this tournament. He started day 2 on just over 8,000 chips when the average stack was closer to 35,000. At the final table he was in second or third for most of the day's play.

On the final hand, Bonomo was holding 5-4 for two pair and went all in on the turn. But E-Dog had the nuts, his A-2-3-4-5 wheel straight winning him his first ever gold bracelet.

In a post-tournament interview, Lindgren told ESPN's Norman Chad, "I thought I'd be sitting here presenting you with your bracelet before I got mine."

"Limit Hold'em tournaments have been very good to me in the past.  I wanted to use that as my strength.  We had a lot of No-Limit (Hold'em) strength at this final table, but I wanted to use Limit to make my moves." said Lindgren.

As cherished as the prize was to Lindgren after so many tries, he revealed that he would be sending his WSOP gold bracelet to his father.
