Dr Jerry Yang, originally from Laos, has won the 2007 World Series of Poker main event.

His investment of $225 in a satellite tournament turned into $US 8.25 million after winning the most presitigious and valuable prize in poker.

Jerry was playing for Full Tilt Poker and the runner up, Tuan Lam was playing for PokerStars.

In what commentator Phil Gordon described as a 'very aggressive performance, Yang called virtually every all in against him.

Though he took up poker two years ago, he went to Las Vegas without much experience. Before even winning the biggest rize in poker he declared that he would donate 10% of his winnings to charity.

"As a father of six, you don't have a lot of money to play poker," he said. "So I played whenever I have a little chance here and there, and so far I have been successful." '

The final table had representatives from both Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars, but in the end it was Full Tilt that emerged victorious. Tuan Lam, the runner up is known as Babyhan on PokerStars and plays online poker for a living.

Congratulations Jerry Yang!
