The PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge could be the poker television event of the decade, pitting promising amateur players up against the pros on FOX.

21 poker players chosen by PokerStars and FOX will come together, each bringing along two poker buddies for support, in order to play off against the pros for a chance at a $1 million first prize. The players will start off in a series of heads-up matches with Team PokerStars Pros and celebrity poker players, all the while being coached by the legendary Daniel Negreanu.

After playing against the other pros, the winning players will need to play against their coach in a heads-up match before moving to the final table. There they will compete against the other finalists to decide who gets to walk away with $1 million and the pride of having successfully competed against so many talented poker players.

Before you are given a chance to play the pros, you’ll first need to get into the running for auditions. In order to whittle down the field of hopefuls from the outset, PokerStars is holding twice daily freerolls to decide who gets to audition for a part in the Million Dollar Challenge series.

The top 10 players in each freeroll tournament will be asked to send in a two-minute audition tape featuring themselves and the two friends they’d like to take along, explaining why they should be given the chance to play for $1 million. The qualifying freerolls will be held at 8PM and 11PM ET each day leading up to 25 November, and its open to any PokerStars players from the USA or Canada.

To play in the qualifying freerolls, a PokerStars account is required. There is no cost to enter the Million Dollar Challenge Freerolls, but new PokerStars players may want to play in real money games first in order to gauge the competition.
