The battle for the Party Poker World Open V begins on October 11th, and to celebrate, the folks at Party Poker have released odds on all 48 contestants, including each satellite winner.
Here are some of the best “To Win” odds on offer at the moment. Both JC Tran and Tom Dwan are sitting atop the table as favorites to win the shootout style tournament.
JC Tran: 13.00
Tom Dwan: 13.00
Layne Flack: 15.00
James Ackenhead: 15.00
Yevgeniy Timoshenko: 15.00
Luke Schwartz: 16.00
Mike Sexton: 16.00
Phil Laak: 19.00
The event is played out in a series of preliminary heats where the winners from each heat will automatically move on to the final table. For the runners-up, they will all take part in a second chance heat for the opportunity to win a final spot at the main event table.
The form that Tran and Dwan have been in for the past few months has obviously given them precedence over the rest of the pack in terms of favorable odds. While Dwan is not well-known for his tournament wins, he has been quite consistent on the cash game play scene. On the other hand, Tran has been tearing up the tournaments of late by winning a World Series of Poker bracelet over the summer, as well as a spot at the final table of the Asian Poker Tour Macau Main Event.
Two other competitors with great odds to win are Yevgeniy Timoshenko and James Akenhead. Timoshenko’s most recent victory came during the World Championship of Online Poker, where he took out the Main Event. Akenhead, however, is a favored member of the November Nine, and both he and Timoshenko took winnings from Monday’s World Series of Poker Europe Main Event.
Mike Sexton is the highest placed Party Poker team member, sitting at 16.00 odds. Ian Frazer is at 21.00, and Remy Biechel is out to 26.00. You can head over to Party Poker today to check out all the latest updates on the Party Poker World Open V.
The $10,000 buy-in event runs from October 11-15, and will be held at The Palm Beach Casino.
