Party Poker has just announced that their new ambassador for PartyPoker.it is Formula 1 Ferrari race driver Giancarlo Fisichella. To celebrate, the folks at Party Poker are inviting all Italian poker fans to play against the professional racer.

Fisichella is well known amongst poker fans, especially after impressing at the Sports Stars Challenge IV, which was held in London earlier this year.

The Italian had plenty to say on his new position:

“Poker has become a very popular pastime in the paddock in recent months with many of the drivers,” he declared.

“I have joined two new teams and am delighted to be in pole position as a new ambassador for PartyPoker.it.”

In addition to the announcement of Fisichella’s appointment, Party Poker have also revealed that they will be holding daily €500 Freerolls for Italian residents; seats can be applied for between now and the end of October, with winners of the Freerolls receiving a signed Giancarlo Fisichella shirt.

Party Poker is just as excited about Fisichella coming on board as the man himself.

“Giancarlo is the fantastic new ambassador for PartyPoker.it. The freerolls are exclusive to Italian residents but the rest of the world and the international poker circuit is likely to feel the force of Fisichella as he gets involved in the game. Many commentators have already said that they believe that he is on track to be one of the best celebrity players on the poker circuit. He is one to watch as he moves through his gears but you have to pay attention as he moves very fast on the felt and he's always got his hand on the pump.”
