PokerStars goes live in Macau

PokerStars, the world's largest online poker site, has announced the opening of their first live poker room, within Asia's entertainment playground of Macau.

Online players will be able to win seats at Macau events via satellites and freerolls.

The poker room has been built within the luxurious surroundings of the Grand Waldo Casino on the Cotai Strip. The venue will provide a rich mix of cash games and tournaments for players from Macau, Hong Kong, China and the rest of the world.

The official opening is on May 23, with a traditional Chinese ceremony and the start of the first ever Macau Poker Cup. This charity fundraiser will raise money for the victims of the recent Sichuan earthquake.

PokerStars Macau will run a weekly schedule of poker events, including tournaments, sit & gos and cash games.There will also be regular live satellite tournaments to the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau main Event, September 1-6, as well as other APPT, European Poker Tour (EPT) and Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) events.

The weekly tournament schedule also includes a weekly No-Limit Texas Hold’em freeroll tournament, held every Thursday night at 8:10pm.

Players can also win seats at PokerStars Macau events via online satellites and freerolls on PokerStars. For more information, open the PokerStars lobby, click ‘Events’ and ‘PSM’.

PokerStars players can even buy in to most PokerStars Macau tournaments online, and will soon be able to earn Frequent Player Points for taking part.
