Gus Hansen Run Continues

by | Published: Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Gus Hansen has continued his stellar start to 2011 by winning over $300k in a night to take his yearly winnings to $3.2 million from online poker alone.

Despite losing over $500k in a night less than a week earlier to O Fortuna PLS, Hansen has gone on a menacing run to extend his lead as online poker’s most successful player of 2011.

Hansen suffered the heavy losses to O Fortuna PLS in 2-7 Triple Draw, however he has erased the pain of defeat by taking Arbianight for $150k in 250 hands of $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha. In total Arabianight went down around $236k for the night.

Not willing stop there the Great Dane went on to pit himself against fellow Scandinavian Andreas ‘skjervoy’ Torbergson. After another 300 hands of Pot Limit Omaha Hansen had secured $172k from Toborgsen and was up $322k, putting a large dint in the loses he suffered to O Fortuna PLS earlier in the week.

Hansen is streaking away from the field in terms of online poker winnings for the year. With winnings in excess of $3.2 million for the year so far, Hansen is over a million dollars ahead of Matt Hawrilenko who is second on the online money list for 2011 with $1.8million.

It remains to be seen whether this yo-yo like performance will pay off for the Great Dane, however if he can keep recouping his in this fashion he is a shoe-in to end the year as online poker’s most successful player.
