WSOP Europe Schedule Announced

The tournament schedule for the fifth annual WSOP Europe has been announced, with the action to kick off at Casino Barriere de Cannes in France.

There will be a total of seven bracelets awarded, a record for the WSOP Europe, from October 7-20.

WSOP Vice President Ty Stewart says he expects this year’s WSOP Europe will offer the best player experience in the history of the WSOP Europe.

“Players will find non-stop action throughout the two week event, plus plenty of fun distractions in Cannes to make this the perfect poker vacation,” said Stewart.

The first event of the week will be a six-handed €2,500 no limit holdem event. The fortnight will end with the 2011 WSOP Europe Main Event.

There will also be a €550 Ladies event, although a bracelet will not be awarded to the winner.

This year’s WSOP Europe will also feature one of the most innovative tournaments we have seen in some time.

The All-Around No Limit Holdem Championship will play out over four days and will have a buy in of €10,400.

On each day of the event players will be confronted with a different format.

On day one, play at all tables will be nine handed. Those good enough to progress to the second day will find themselves playing six-handed. Then on day three every player left in the tournament will pair off and there will be a series of heads up battles. The heads up battles will continue until there are just nine players left, and these players will fight it out at the final table.

WSOP officials will be keeping a close eye on how the tournament is received and it may not be long until we see a similar tournament pop up at the WSOP in Las Vegas.

Non-stop cash games, satellites and other events will also be scheduled during the two weeks that the WSOP Europe takes over Cannes.
