Phan Wins WSOP Circuit Atlantic City

Tuan Phan was claimed the WSOP Circuit main event in Atlantic City in the biggest win of his career.

Phan got the better of a 618 player field pocketing $188,830 as well as his first WSOP circuit gold ring.

This was the biggest main event held in Atlantic City yet with a massive 75 percent increase from last year’s field of 352.

Buy in for the tournament was $1600 making a total prize pool just shy of $900,000.

Phan has played very little in the way of live tournaments before but showed experience beyond what was expected to creep into the final table as one of the short stacks.

He bided his time slowly building his balance before finding himself in a one on one battle with Hao Le.

He went into heads up play  with a 2 to 1 advantage in chips and refused to relinquish them right the way through.

Le was unlucky in the end to be knocked out with pocket aces with Phan scoring a triplet of kings on the turn.

It wasn’t all lost for Le though who gets $116,769 for second as well as the player of the series title.

Both players will also now feature in the WSOP Circuit National Championships in Las Vegas.
