Raymer Dominates Heartland Poker Tour

2004 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Greg Raymer has capped off his domination of the 2012 Heartland Poker Tour by winning the HPT Championship Open at Belterra Casino Resort this week.

Raymer had already won three Heartland Poker Tour Event events in three months and his $106,030 payday now makes him the HPT all-time money leader with $371,967.

The forty-eight-year-old won the HPT Albuquerque event, the Main Event at River City Casino & Lumiere Place in St. Louis and had already wrapped up the HPT Player of the Year award after winning at the Prairie Meadows Racetrack Casino Hotel in October.

Raymer is generally a man of few words and that was no different when he was interviewed after winning the latest tournament.

“I’m overwhelmed,” said Raymer.

It was an incredible performance from Raymer who had to come back from a short-stack on three different occasions to win the tournament.

Raymer’s success has given the Heartland Poker Tour publicity that it richly deserves.

The tour is very popular with players and has been praised for its organization.

Fred Bevill, executive producer of the HPT, was over the moon with the success of the tour in 2012.

“It was a great year on tour,” Bevill said.

“Numbers are up, our casino partners are first-class, and our crew is the hardest-working team in poker but it’s the players who make our work so rewarding.”

Bevill is confident that the HPT will continue to grow in 2013.

“HPT will stop in new markets across the country while still visiting some of our favorite casinos and loyal players,” he said.

Raymer won $5,000,000 in the 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event and since that time has become one of the most popular poker players in the world and one of the leading ambassadors of the industry.

Raymer has been one of the leading proponents of the fight to have poker regulated and is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Poker Players Alliance.
