Artyem Perlov has claimed the biggest victory of his poker career by winning the 2012 DeepStacks Poker Tour Mohegan Sun National Championship.
Notable professional poker players Michael Mizrachi, Mike Matusow, Chip Jett, Vanessa Selbst and Allen Kessler were a part of the 251 entries but Perlov was able to outlast them all and take home the first prize of $108,864.
None of the well-known professionals were able to make the final table that turned out to be an interesting contest.
Andrew Sherman-Ash started the final table as the short stack but quickly gained the chip lead and became to dominate proceedings.
He was able to eliminate Nicholas Palma and Patrick Chan in the same hand to make the final table four-handed.
At this point the four remaining players made a deal that gave Andrew Sherman-Ash $100,000 and the other players $70,000 guaranteeing each of them the biggest victory of their poker careers.
This deal seemed to slow down the pace of the tournament and it took fifty-one hands for David Stefanski to be eliminated in fourth place.
Adam Bitker quickly followed Stefanski to the rail and gave Sherman-Ash yet another elimination.
Perlov and Sherman-Ash engaged in a enthralling heads-up duel with Perlov seizing the momentum and moving away to a sizeable lead.
After fifty-three hand of heads up battle Perlov landed the killer blow, winning his maiden tournament with a flush.
The victory was easily the biggest win of Perlov’s poker career with his previous biggest score coming in the 2009 World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open where he won $10,750 after finishing 33rd.
The DeepStacks Poker Tour continues next year with the DeepStacks Poker Tour PPC South Florida Main Event that will boast a $1,500 buy-in with a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.
