Gold’s World Series of Poker Bracelet Goes Under the Hammer

by | Published: Monday, August 5th, 2013

Much like the Stanley Cup, The Vince Lombardi Trophy and Olympic Gold Medals, Championship Bracelets represent the highest level of achievement at the professional Poker Table.

From time to time, in the same way Super bowl rings may be released, Championship bracelets are listed for auction and snapped up for hefty prices by adoring fans hoping to get as close to the high-stakes action as possible.

Most recently, that of Jamie Gold, winner of the 2006 World Series of Poker appeared at Heritage Auctions and was eventually claimed for a total of $65,725!

While this kind of transaction is often frowned upon by fellow winners who chose to keep their unique mementoes, Heritage, who list themselves as the ‘World’s Largest Collectibles Auctioneer’, confirmed that it was not Gold, in fact, who had listed the bracelet, but rather an anonymous individual who had acquired the item from the former Champion at an earlier point.

“Not much I can say other than that the current owner, who wants to remain anonymous, brought it to us for consignment” Noah Fleisher, Director of Public Relations at Heritage said.

“It is not Mr. Gold auctioning it, but he obviously sold it to someone, for some reason, at an earlier point, but I do not know any details beyond that” Fleisher said.

Featuring approximately 259 stones, including over seven carats of diamonds and 120 grams of white and yellow gold, rubies and sapphires, the bracelet was won by Gold in the largest ever World Series of Poker main event, consisting of 8773 players initial players.

Refusing to comment on the sale of the bracelet, Gold joins the likes of five other notable professionals to be known to have auctioned their trophies, including Brad Daugherty, who sold his 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event Bracelet for an astounding $147,500 on EBay, for charity.
