Delaware has become the first US state to launch a complete online poker and gambling operation following a successful week-long trial with a group of selected participants.
Three leading Delaware Casinos began official online operations last Friday, offering a number of real-money online poker games, as well as a selection extra casino titles.
Powered by 888 Poker software, the platform offered by all three casinos; Delaware Park, Dover Downs and Harrington Raceway feature the same easy-to-follow user interface as the renowned World Series of Poker website in Nevada and include no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha cash games, with several multi-table tournaments set to be added in the not-too-distant future.
Leading the unique features of Delaware’s online poker tables is Face2Face poker; allowing players to see their opponents through the use of webcams. The impressive software also allows players to multi-table, table resizing and player notes.
To participate, all players must be physically located in Delaware, and a social security number must be provided to ensure US citizenship, thereby excluding international players from participation.
With the announcement and launch, Delaware joins Nevada as states to offer regulated online poker in 2013.
New Jersey, who announced a similar form of online gambling and poker via bases in Atlantic City a few months ago, is planning to launch its regulated internet Poker service in under two weeks (November 26). Several gambling industry heavyweights including Caesars and 888 were granted final approval on Friday, capping off a particularly big day for Online Poker in North America.
