The European Poker Tour is set to host its 100th event this August, and has revealed they will be hosting Europe’s largest ever Poker festival in Barcelona, Spain.
Spanning from August 16-27, 2014, the Casino Barcelona event will officially mark the beginning of season 11 of the EPT, and will partner with the locally-renowned ‘Estrellas Poker Tour’ from the 16th-21st to produce what is sure to be a truly memorable 12 day Poker extravaganza.
EPT President Edgar Stuchly said the Tour could not be more excited about the 100th event, particularly as it will be held in one of the world’s most picturesque cities.
“The EPT was born in Barcelona so it’s very fitting to celebrate EPT’s 100th event in true style and with unforgettable poker” Stuchly said.
“EPT Barcelona is one of the most popular tour stops and attracts players from all over the world for the fantastic mix of beaches, iconic architecture, party atmosphere and world class poker.”
The 2013 edition of the event broke all major European Poker records, and eventually saw the two Main Events of 1,798 and 1,234 players respectively award winners Soenke Jahn and Tom Middleton with €169,136 and €942,000 – each player’s largest victory to date.
This year, the EPT has revealed that 20 extra tables will be included to ensure the expected player fields will be covered, and records are broken once again.

As the world’s leading poker players head to Monte Carlo for the European Poker Tour Season Nine Grand Final Pokerstars has released the schedule for Season Ten of the popular tournament circuit.
There haven’t been many changes made to the schedule for Season Ten and the EPT will kick-off once again in Barcelona before heading to London, Prague, the Bahamas, Deauville, Berlin, Sanremo and Monaco.
European Poker Tour President Edgar Stuchly said the focus was on making the tour as stable as possible.
“Players at the EPT will see that we have made a deliberate decision to focus on stability,” Stuchly said.
“During a successful Season 9 where we decided to host fewer and bigger events incorporating the national tours, we listened to an enormous amount of player feedback who valued less time spent travelling, and more time spent playing.”
The European Poker Tour focused on turning each stop on the tour into a true Poker festival with buy-ins that suit players with bankrolls of all sizes.
High Roller events have become a major part of the professional poker circuit in recent years and this will continue in Season Ten of the EPT with more High Roller tournaments scheduled for every stop.
Leading Team Pokerstars pro Daniel Negreanu said he was delighted with the schedule and was excited to visit exotic locations around Europe.
“Really excited to see all of the top EPT spots back for Season 10 and think this is the best schedule yet with several big festivals planned, which is great for those making the trip overseas,” Negreanu said.
“It really gives players the bang for their buck with all of the side events available at each stop.”
Satellites for Season Ten of the European Poker Tour will begin at Pokerstars on Wednesday May 15th and give amateur poker players the opportunity to qualify for a major event for as little as $1.

A number of leading poker professionals have been confirmed as entrants in the European Poker Tour Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller Event that will be held in Monte Carlo on May 13th.
Pokerstars announced yesterday that over thirty players are locked-in to play the event and this number is expected to grow even higher.
The leading online poker room has offering a number of incentives for players to take part in the tournament.
“Players who come out and support our Super High Roller events enjoy a little tangible rakeback and VIP treatment for their loyalty as well,” Pokerstars Global VIP Host Garry Gates said.
“Free rooms, chauffeured limousine rides, room credit for food and drinks and complimentary taxi service are offered at some stops, and here in Monaco we have a very unique opportunity.
“Upon landing in Nice, France, our VIPs have a chartered helicopter waiting for them, which takes them on a ride above the picturesque shores of the Mediterranean before touching down in the Principality of Monaco.”
Leading players that have taken up this incredible opportunity include: 2013 WSOP APAC Main Event champion Daniel Negreanu, Big One For One Drop winner Antonio Esfandiari, the winningest female tournament poker player in history Vanessa Selbst and poker legend Erik Seidel.
The inaugural European Poker Tour Grand Final Super High Roller tournament was won by Justin Bonomo who outlasted a final table that included Tobias Reinkemeier, Bertrand Grospellier, Patrik Antonius, Masaaki Kagawa and Negreanu.
European Poker Tour President Edgar Stuchly said he was delighted at the response to the Super High Roller Tournament.
“Monaco really is the spiritual home of high-stakes gaming, and the response we’ve had to the High Roller events has been fantastic so far,” Stuchly told Poker News.
