The Pokerstars and Monte-Carlo Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final Main Event is set for a thrilling finish with a number of leading players still in contention to win the tournament.
At the conclusion of Day 3 only thirty-four players remained in the hunt while the top ten was filled with some of Poker’s biggest names including John Juanda, Noah Schwartz, Jason Mercier and Daniel Negreanu.
Team Pokerstars professional Johnny Lodden increased his chip lead and now has a commanding stack of 1,232,000, well clear of Steve O’Dywer (963,000), Andre Pantling (943,000) and Juanda (939,000).
Juanda is a five time World Series of Poker bracelet winner but hasn’t claimed a major tournament victory since his win in the $ 10,000 No Limit Deuce To Seven Draw World Championship at the 2011 World Series of Poker.
He finished second in the 2010 European Poker Tour London Main Event and will be desperately hoping to go one better this weekend.
In contrast tenth placed Negreanu is coming of a major tournament victory after his win in the inaugural World Series of Poker Asia Pacific Main Event.
The Canadian is playing some of the best poker of his career and sounds as though he is full of confidence.
“In the money at the European Poker Tour Grand Final,” Negreanu posted on Twitter.
“My third cash in a row coming one off a fourth and a win at the WSOP APAC.
“Might as well do it again.”
Fellow Team Pokerstars pro Jason Mercier is well positioned for a deep run with 746,000 in chips.
Mercier has already had a successful European Poker Tour Grand Final, winning the € 2,000 Open Face Chinese Poker event, and is a leading contender to add another EPT Title to his resume.
Day four of the European Poker Tour Grand Final Main commences soon and you can stay up to date with all the action at Poker.Com.
You can play online poker with Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier and Johnny Lodden at Pokerstars.
