Recently, the World Poker Tour announced plans to expand the Season XII calendar once more with the addition of the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic in February 2014.
Following two extremely successful seasons in Montreal, the WPT will return to Canada once more for the CAD$5,000 main event at the Fallsview Casino Resort, which is located around an hour outside of Toronto.
Featuring a single entry format, the WPT Classic Main Event will run for a total of three days from 22nd-24th of February to close out the tournament series.
“Poker is more popular than ever in Canada, and our players have been asking us to add another WPT stop north of the border” WPT President Adam Pliska said in a statement following the announcement.
“We’re thrilled to accommodate them by adding this great new event to the tour, and we look forward to another fantastic event on Canadian soil.”
In a way to make the tournament accessible to everyone interested, players have had the ability to qualify via satellite events since December 9, which will continue to run until Super Satellites in early February.
Director of Communications at Fallsview Casino, Greg Medulun shared his and the venue’s delight in the new partnership with the WPT.
“The return of the WPT is exciting news for all talented and notable poker enthusiasts” Medulun said.
“Our Casino is well-suited to host what will be a definite sold-out event given the added excitement WPT brings.”
Currently boasting a range of more than 3,000 slot machines and more than one hundred table games, Fallsview Casino is also noted as housing some of the best restaurants in the Toronto area and is located a stone’s throw from the world famous Niagara Falls.
