Zokay Entertainment acquires The Hendon Mob

The Hendon Mob, the World’s most comprehensive, all inclusive Poker database utilized largely for its live tournament results has been bought out by Zokay Entertainment, parent company of Global Poker Index.

According to a press release released by Zokay Entertainment following the announcement of the takeover, Zokay will be investing around $3 million in acquiring and developing its poker products, however did not disclose the amount paid for the new acquisition.

Billed as easily the best Poker portal in all of Europe, The Hendon Mob was created by professional poker big wigs Barney and Ross Boatman, Joe Beevers and Ram Vaswani as an avenue to cover the rising popularity of Poker in Europe in the early 2000’s and to promote the group.

“The Hendon Mob poker database is the best in the world, without a doubt” Alex Dreyfus stated in the press release, founder and CEO of Zokay Entertainment.

“We plan to support and grow this tremendous asset”.

Since the formation of the mob in 2001, the four have been sponsored by three companies; Prima Poker originally, followed by a long standing relationship with Full Tilt Poker which ended only after the latter went offline and finally Genting Poker, which acted more as a support base until last month, when the partnership was terminated.

The acquisition appears to be a bright one for Zokay, as it fits directly into their ever-growing portfolio of relevant companies, obviously including Global Poker Index but also Fantasy Poker Manager, a newly launched entity.

Founding member Barney Boatman commented on the takeover, sharing his delight in the future security of The Hendon Mob.

“With the expertise, resources and commitment of the Global Poker Index, the legacy of the Hendon Mob is safe and its future is secure”.

“We are excited about the upcoming developments from which everyone in poker will benefit” Boatman was quoted as saying.


Boatman Wins Maiden World Series of Poker Bracelet

British poker legend Barny Boatman’s long wait for a World Series of Poker bracelet is finally over after he was victorious $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em event.

Boatman has been coming to the World Series of Poker since 2000 and despite cashing on twenty-five occasions and appearing at four final tables had never broken through for a victory on poker’s biggest stage, until this weekend when he outlasted the monster field of 2247 players to claim an emotional victory.

The English poker pioneer has achieved a great deal of success in his poker career, both on and off the felt thanks to his achievements with the Hendon Mob, but it was very clear he was simply delighted to have won his first WSOP bracelet.

“I had no idea how much this would mean until it happened,” Boatman said.

“The feeling when I won it, because of all the wonderful people here around me, it’s something that really made me realize how special the moment is.

All the people in poker that I would have liked to be here were and that’s what made it special.”

There is no more popular figure with other English poker players than Boatman who can regularly be seen on the rails cheering on his fellow countryman.

Dozens of English players were happy to return the favor for Boatman and he was overwhelmed by their incredible support as he became the first British player to pick up a win at this year’s World Series.

“It wouldn’t mean a thing unless they were all here,” Boatman said of his fellow English players.

“We all got into poker and traveled the world together.

“They all won it for me.”

Boatman has recorded exceptional results in a wide range of tournaments held all over the world but the first place prize of $ 546,080 was the biggest score of his poker career.
