The World Poker Tour has today announced the second half of Season XII’s schedule, which will conclude next year with seven Main Tour events and a further nine World Poker Tour Regional and National events to be held all around the world.
The major highlight of the season’s second half is two stops at the stunning Borgata Hotel, Casino and Spa. Kicking off in January at the particularly fitting Atlantic City with the televised Borgata Winter Poker Open, the tour will wind down to an inevitable conclusion at the $15,400 WPT World Championship; an event that has been moved from the Las Vegas Bellagio and featuring an all new, cheaper buy-in.
The World Poker Tour is also set to visit two venues in California and a further three in Florida including the season’s penultimate event; the Seminole Hard Rock Showdown. Similarly to this past August’s Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, the event is set to feature an unbelievable $10 million guarantee on the main event.
World Poker Tour Executive Tour Director Matt Savage commented on the schedule following its release on Monday.
“The much-anticipated second half of the WPT schedule was definitely worth the wait”.
“Players can start to book travel knowing that many quality events in great locations are now in place” Savage said.
World Poker Tour President Adam Pliska also expressed his excitement at the announcement of the 16-event card.
“We are very excited about the depth and breadth of our Sean XII schedule” Pliska said.
“We’ve taken great care to ensure all of our players; whether they’re on the Main Tour of in our WPT Regional or WPT National events, enjoy a world-class experience at premier venues around the globe:.
As previously highlighted, the first event of the schedule is set to begin on January 26th at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, concluding five days later on the 31st.

Rumors have been circling recently regarding a huge stakes main event to be held by the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino at some point next year.
On Wednesday, these whisperings were realized when the leading Hollywood Casino tweeted their announcement of a $10 million guaranteed World Poker Tour Main Event with a buy-in of $5,300.
While an official announcement is still yet to be released from the World Poker Tour, the original tweet was reposted by Executive Tour Director of the WPT Matt Savage.
This event is set to mark the second occasion of a monstrous guarantee held by the Seminole Hard Rock in under one year, with the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $10 Million Guarantee Championship Event concluding just over a month ago at the close of August.
On that occasion, Poker pro Blair Hinkle took home the title and more than $1.74 million in prizes after beating out a field of 2,383 other competitors.
There appears to be a high chance of the event treading on the toes of several other big name events, with the Hard Rock confirming it to be scheduled for April 2014. The major European Poker Tour San Remo Festival is already penned in for competition from the 6-16 of April, with the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo Casino EPT Grand Final written into the calendar from April 23 – May 3.
Further to this, the World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific Tournament is likely to run from April 6- 16, meaning players and fans will be spoiled for choice throughout the month.
As also tweeted by Savage, the event will feature a re-entry format parallel to that which was used in August’s $10 million assured event, with one hour long levels running until day three utilizing the standard World Poker Tour structure.
Savage further clarified the event will play host to a number of mixed-game side events, largely in response to a question forwarded by renown Poker pro Owais Ahmed.

The World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star event is always one of the most popular events of the poker calendar and this year’s event has been no exception.
The 635 players that have taken part in the opening day of the tournament have already made the 2013 event the largest in the history of the Bay 101 Shooting Star.
One reason for the increased popularity of the event might be the added number of bounties and prizes on offer.
The first Shooting Star event was held in 1997 with only ten bounties of $1000 each on offer.
This year the tournament is offering a $2500 bounty with an incredible fifty shooting stars in the field.
World Poker Tour tournament Director Matt Savage said his team puts in a lot of effort to select the shooting stars.
“There is a lot of thought that goes into choosing a shooting star,” Savage said.
“How popular they are, how well liked they are and if they have a lot of achievements in the industry comes into the decision making process.
“The choice is made by both me and the management at Bay 101 and I think we have done a pretty good job.”
Jason Koon said he was happy and humbled to have been selected as a shooting star.
“I think that there are a lot of guys out there that are a lot more deserving than me they just didn’t come to the tournament or weren’t selected for some reason,” Koon said.
“I’m happy to be one and I think that I’m a rising star of the game.”
After twelve levels of play there are currently twelve shooting stars left in the field of a total 146 players.
Kyle Julius (245,000) is currently the best placed shooting star but Scott Seiver (228,000), Antonio Esfandiari (224,000) and Erik Seidel (215,000) are hot on his heels.
Christian Harder has the chip lead with over 500,000 in chips followed by Brendon Ruble (495,000) and Isaac Baron (405,000).
