Once again, the richest online poker tournament series in the world will be taking place in September.
Last week, Pokerstars released its schedule for the 2014 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), which will run from September 7 – 28. The annual online series will offer a variety of popular games and formats in 66 events with a total $40 million in guaranteed prize money.
The event kicks off with a $109 no-limit hold’em WCOOP event on Sunday, September 7 at 8:00 AM ET but the fun doesn’t stop there with two $215 no-limit hold’em events scheduled for opening day, including a Sunday Million special tournament with $1.5 million guaranteed.
As we’ve come to expect, the festival will be highlighted by a $5,200 buy-in Main Event with a $10 million guaranteed prize pool. The two-day Main Event will take place September 28-29 and, for the first time ever, the final will be broadcast live.
One of the most exciting additions to this year’s roster is the side promotion that will see four protégés win training from Team PokerStars Pros (Andre Akkari, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Eugene Katchalov, and Vanessa Selbst), and receive buy-ins to three events, including the $5,200 Main Event. The protégés will be voted for by the general public and can be followed on PokerStars’s facebook page.
Last year’s event was a complete success with PokerStars handing out more than $62 million across 66 events, crushing the $40 million in guarantees offered. The total number of tournament entrants across the series was 144,945, up nearly 15 percent on the 2012 total of 126,041.
Online qualifiers to all the 2014 events are now live, with cash buy-ins starting from less than $1 and Frequent Player Point satellites from just 1 FPP. Continue reading for a look at the 2014 WCOOP schedule (all times EDT): (more…)

Following a victory for $9,500 in a $215 buy-in event at PartyPoker last Saturday, Online Poker Professional Chris Moorman surpassed the $10 million in lifetime career online earnings.
Not only the first player to earn more than eight, Moorman appears to be continually setting a new huge benchmark, as no other player has earned more than $7.5 million, according to PocketFives.
After previously telling pokernews.com he wanted to surpass the $10 million with a victory in the World Championship of Online Poker recently, Moorman is of course still greatly satisfied with the accomplishment nevertheless, as he discussed on the weekend post-tournament.
“I’m glad to make the mark in style with a victory taking me over the line rather than a bunch of min cashes” Moorman said.
“Hopefully I can make a run at the World Championship of Online Poker Main Event tomorrow and get myself well on the way to the next 10 million”.
The Hold’em Main Event began yesterday and offers the winner a guaranteed $1.25M; an ideal pot to push Moorman’s record further out of reach of his competitors.
Further to this event, the WCOOP has and continues to feature 65 other events sharing a prize pool of more than $40 million guaranteed. The best thing about this tournament is literally any poker player can qualify, and from as little as $1!

There are just twenty-four players left in the 2012 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event that is currently being held at the Majestic Barrière in Cannes, France.
Remaining in the field are some of the biggest names in Poker including twelve times World Series of Poker Bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth.
The Poker Brat is currently sitting in sixth position and had a fantastic day three, accumulating 351,000 in chips.
The Poker Hall of Fame member is aiming to become the first player to win both the World Series of Poker (which he won in 1989) and World Series of Poker Europe main events.
Jason Mercier has continued his amazing form and currently has the fifth largest stack.
The two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner recently won $253,425.00 in the World Championship of Online Poker $10,300 8-Game (High-Roller) event and is ranked by ESPN as the best poker player in the world.
Popular English player Liv Boeree is still in the tournament and would dearly love to win her first ever World Series of Poker bracelet.
The TV presenter and model had a poor day three but still has over 400,000 in chips.
She is a long way behind chip leader Joseph Cheong who now holds 1,381,000 in chips.
The South Korean native is no stranger to World Series of Poker Main Events; having finished third in the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event.
Cheong has an exceptional 2012, finishing 2nd in the World Series of Poker No Limit Hold’em Mixed Max and Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza events, and would dearly love to cap off the year with his first World Series of Poker bracelet.
The remaining twenty-four players will now play down to a final table of eight.

For years now it’s been well known that you don’t need to play live tournament poker to win big money with the online poker realm exploding.
While there are more opportunities than ever online, there are none that match up to the World Championship of Online Poker which kicked off this week.
Now into its 10th year the Pokerstars event attracts more players for more prize money than any other online event.
Starting on September 4th the tournaments will progress right through to September 25th with a massive 62 different events held during that period.
If that’s not enough to get you keen then how about the fact the total amount of prize money which will be given away will total a guaranteed $3,000,000!
That makes it the richest prize pool offered for online poker on any website anywhere on the planet.
The best part about it is that you don’t need to be a high roller to get your start in the events either with hundreds of satellite tournaments offering players the chance to earn their way in from as little as $1 or even free with 100 frequent player points.
For the first time ever as well the entire World Championship of Online Poker will be accompanied with a special live radio show to keep you up to date with all the action.
Pokerstars radio will be covering the days play with hour long broadcasts starting on September 7th.
They’ll run six days a week all the way through to September 27th.
The coverage will include all the important news and player interviews as well as handing out $50,000 in prizes across four language broadcasts (English, Russian, German and Spanish).
While the radio show is a nice tough, surely it’d be a lot better to tune in and hear your name called as an event winner?
It’s not as far away as you think with an account at Pokerstars taking only a matter of minutes to create.
It’s a safe and secure website and as you can see they’re unmatched by anyone else on the web.
Best of all for as little as a dollar you could find yourself with a share in $3,000,000!
There really is no better time to join Pokerstars and grab a piece of the World Championship of Online Poker.
