Kevin Eyster Wins World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Showdown

by | Published: Wednesday, April 17th, 2013

Kevin Eyster has continued his stellar run in the past twelve months by winning the World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Showdown.

Eyster overcame a field of 542 players to claim his first World Poker Tour Title and take home the first place prize of $660,395.

Eyster won $333,680 in the Full Tilt Poker Online Poker Series earlier this month meaning he has scored over $1 million in prizemoney in just over two weeks.

The young American said he still hasn’t processed his amazing run of success.

“I guess it will hit me in a few days because that it is pretty unexplainable,” Eyster said.

“It just goes to show that it can happen to anybody, it feels like a mini-Moneymaker story and I’m pretty excited that it has happened.”

The final table of this tournament was a unique experience for Eyster as he was doing battle with his close friend and roommate Zo Karim.

Karim was eliminated by Eyster in third place but Eyster said there was no hard feeling between the pair.

“My number one goal was to win this tournament not to help him out so I was here trying to take him out just like anybody else,” Eyster said.

After eliminating Karim Eyster only had to overcome Ben Tarzia to claim the title and he did after only eleven hands with his Ace-Ten outracing the pocket Sevens of Tarzia.

Eyster said Tarzia was a difficult player for him to read but he was still full of confidence heading into the heads-up battle.

“My only edge was that I have had lots of experience heads-up so I felt like that would be enough for me to beat anybody at the final table,” he said.

The World Poker Tour continues next week with the World Poker Tour BestBet Open in Jacksonville, Florida.

Eyster made his mark playing online poker and you can too by signing-up and depositing at Titan Poker Titan Poker.
